Rockford native Dave Wilson and his family, who’ve been Egypt Valley Country Club members for five years, say it’s the atmosphere and friendly spirit of fellow members that keep bringing them back.
We sat down with Dave to learn more about his golf history, what he thinks about the club’s two courses and more.
Dave, who sells real estate for Five Star Real Estate, often enjoys spending time at the club with his wife, Jamie, and two children: Aubrey, 13, and Owen, 10. They might be found golfing or relaxing and enjoying the pool at the club.
Having played the game of golf since he was a mere 3 years old, Dave grew his skills and eventually played at Grand Valley State University. That’s not, however, what initially brought him to the school.
“I was originally attending Grand Valley to play football,” said Dave. “But after an injury, playing golf became the main focus.”
Playing professionally and participating in mini-tours ended up being Dave’s passion, from 2002 until the birth of his daughter in 2006.
When speaking about Egypt Valley and why it’s where he chooses to be a member, Dave stresses that from a golf perspective, it’s all about the courses.
“The club truly has two of the best courses in the state,” he said, adding that the Wilson family likes Egypt Valley more than other clubs they previously belonged to.
“When it comes to the club, the atmosphere can’t be beat. The members and staff are so friendly.”
Dave also enjoys how child-friendly Egypt Valley is, noting this allows his children and others to easily hone their skills.
“I never leave the club feeling unsatisfied—whether bringing guests or otherwise.”
Since August, Dave has served on Egypt Valley’s Membership Committee to help grow the club’s membership.
If you see Dave and his family around the club, be sure to say “Hello!”
