Kyle Lundy: Starting Fresh

With spring in the air, I am excited to begin my service to the membership of EVCC as your next general manager.

Over the course of my first few weeks at the club, I have quickly realized that this club is destined for incredible success in the coming years.

Bo Picklesimer led the club to this exciting moment in time. We should all acknowledge the significant contributions that Bo has made to the club for the last 13 years. During his tenure, he took EVCC to new heights and built an incredible reputation for the club. Bo and I have spent countless hours during this transition discussing our places in life and Bo has been extremely supportive of my arrival to the club. We look forward to honoring Bo’s service to the club one last time on Wednesday, May 5th with a farewell reception. More information will be announced in the coming days and I hope you will be able to join us.

I would also like to take a moment to recognize the amazing leadership team in place at EVCC. Over the course of my first few weeks, I’ve had the opportunity to build relationships with the management team and better understand their specific attributes that contribute to your member experience. I will continue to observe their daily interactions with members and will support their development through professional training and education.

I’ve found that EVCC has always taken pride in securing the highest quality staff and has been committed to building our leadership team from within. My focus will be on preserving this talent development strategy and also working to improve our communication with every employee at the club that has committed to a culture of excellence.

Continuing with the subject of our staff, I’ve also identified challenges that currently exist to recruit highly qualified seasonal employees at this time. Our seasonal staff members will play an important role in your daily member experience, and with our rapid growth in membership over the last year, we are fully committed to bringing in more fresh faces to serve you this year. If you know someone who might be interested in helping us achieve our goals by serving as an employee at EVCC, please encourage them to consider joining our team. Our management team appreciates your continued support while facing this challenge.

While our membership continues to grow, I take pride in building a personal connection with each of our member families. With that in mind, I will be investing a significant amount of my time toward building relationships with our membership in the coming months. Over the course of my first few weeks, I’ve had many casual conversations and have also been presented with a few points of advice. I plan to connect on a regular basis at member events and you will also see me in our daily operations.

I’ve been involved with several board and committee meetings thus far and look forward to supporting the development of our governance structure at the club. I will also be hosting a weekly “coffee with the GM” session on Wednesday mornings (5th, 12th, & 26th) from 9:30 – 10:30 a.m. during the month of May. Please join me on the west patio for an informal gathering as we continue to get to know each other. I look forward to our conversations and appreciate your support as I begin my journey at EVCC.

Our team has decided to take an approach of getting our clubhouse and the club grounds “tour ready” during these next several weeks. As we come out of 2020, it has become clear that we should be prepared for our members to be back in the club and on the grounds more than ever before. We are going to take pride in being prepared for your visits this year.

Our capital improvement projects have gotten off to a wonderful start and the weather thus far is supporting those initiatives. The clubhouse roof has been completed and we have also ordered new furniture and fixtures for several of our spaces at the club. You will also notice the tennis court and pickleball court project has started and we anticipate its completion during the month of May. I am encouraged to see the strategic viewpoint the board has taken with future capital improvements and I anticipate us announcing more details in the coming weeks regarding our pool project.

The golf season we’ve been anxiously awaiting is now upon us, and our outdoor dining spaces will soon be your family destination. Friends, family, neighbors and colleagues will all be enjoying EVCC in its full splendor throughout the next several months. With that in mind, I want all of our members to continue to be a part of the culture that exists. Our growth in membership may cause us to reimagine many of our daily operational strategies at the club, but the culture of EVCC will remain at the heart of our mission.

We are your home away from home and life’s experiences happen here. Your ability to be a part of the solution as we grow will result in many years of financial stability, exceptional experiences and a lifetime of memories. Please be supportive of our staff as we rise from 2020 and take EVCC into the future—it is bright!

Here at your service,

General Manager
