We sat down with Susie Wierenga, Egypt Valley comptroller, to learn more about her history with the Club and why it’s special to her.
You've been with Egypt Valley Country Club for over 25 years! What have you enjoyed most about watching the Club grow?
I enjoy the loyalty of the many members who have been here since I began and how they continue to take pride in our country club, as well as watching our families grow. I appreciate Egypt Valley evolving to keep up with the changing times, especially the transformation of the Club from mauve and teal to the current décor.
What is your favorite memory thus far?
Working the Senior PGA tour, meeting the professional golfers and being part of such an exciting event. The positive response from the membership and community was amazing!
What do you enjoy most about being part of the EVCC team?
Working with a group of individuals who gain gratification from being able to offer our members and their guests exceptional service.
What is something people may not know about you?
I was hired at EVCC in 1990 to sit in the lobby and answer the busy phones. After the phones settled, I moved into the office to help with accounts receivable and filing. Later in 1994, I transferred to the front of the house as Dining Manager and event planning. From there, I moved back to the office as the Comptroller in 1997.
After 28 years, I have made many lifelong friends and still love coming to work every day at EVCC.
What’s an interesting fact about you?
After planning many weddings, I had my dream reception at EVCC 18 years ago. It was amazing!
