Mary Beth McMahon and her husband, Mike, have been members at Egypt Valley since 1991—the first year the club made the move from Green Ridge.
Over the years, Mary Beth and Mike have enjoyed golfing on Egypt Valley’s two championship golf courses, along with their family. Their children began golfing at a young age and are now club members themselves.
“It’s been a total family thing, so we kept it up as a family activity, but also as an individual one,” said Mary Beth.
“We each have our own set of friends out there and it’s been a really fun place for us.”
Mary Beth is the incoming chair of the Women’s Golf Association at Egypt Valley, a responsibility she’s ready to take on.
“I’m excited to be a voice for the women at the club and let them know that they’re welcome, along with encouraging more people to join us!”
She adds that any woman who wants to be a part of the organization can simply show up on Tuesday nights and Thursday mornings.
“It’s a carved-out time for women to specifically be able to golf with other women, and if you don’t have a partner—no worries! We’ll match you up.”
Besides golfing at Egypt Valley, Mary Beth enjoys playing euchre, honing her serve on the tennis court, dining with her family and, in the warmer months, cooling off at the pool.
When asked why she’s remained a club member for so many years, Mary Beth doesn’t mince words.
“You simply won’t find better courses in the area.”
There are also the people.
“The members are so down-to-earth and friendly. I’ve made some very longtime friendships through the club!”
When she’s not at Egypt Valley, Mary Beth might be found cooking or—come June—snuggling up to the two grandchildren she’s been waiting for.
