Employee Spotlight: Katie Muscatell
Kelsey Shoemaker
Published Date
Katie Muscatell, Egypt Valley’s Outdoor Food & Beverage Manager, can be found taking on a number of different responsibilities around the Club, from events at the pool to opening the Club for the day with the crew. And when she’s not at EVCC, she’s likely working on a big project at home! Keep reading to get to know Katie a bit better.
Explain a bit about your Egypt Valley journey and how you came to work at the Club!
I started working at Egypt Valley about three years ago when I moved from Caledonia to Rockford. My role included anything from waitress to bartender to beverage cart and anything in between. Always wanting to do more, I had asked for more responsibility and was offered the position to manage the halfway houses. I come in most mornings to open with the crew and make sure everything runs smooth for the day. I also stay throughout the day to help in any way I can. I now oversee any parties or events down at the pool alongside Hunter I., the pool and lifeguard manager. Our first event a couple weeks ago (the School's Out Party) was so fun and had a great turnout. I am super excited to see what the rest of the season has to hold!
What’s your favorite part of your job at the Club?
If you ask me my favorite thing about my job here at the club, I could give you a million answers. One thing that sets this job apart from others I have had in the past is the relationships built with the people we serve every day, our members. I enjoy coming into work and seeing all the familiar faces. Getting to know them and them getting to know us. The sense of community is like no other.
What’s something surprising/interesting about you that members might not know? And when you’re not at the Club, what could you be found enjoying?
When I’m not at work, I’m probably at home. I bought a house this past October that I am currently renovating. A huge project, but a rewarding one! I also have two Australian cattle dogs, Louie and Moose, that never run out of energy. I take them everywhere with me—hiking, beaching, camping … anywhere dogs are allowed!
